Our Holiday Bazaar last Saturday was another milestone for our Reseda Great Street. The Gresham to Nordhoff corridor saw decorated shops and storefronts, as well as a holiday arts and crafts walk, a children's holiday craft station and sidewalk portrait art.
There was even a "visit with Santa" with our very own Andrea Alvarado as Chief Elf.
Our portable stage equipment has been officially christened at the last two events and was the good folks at LA mas who custom made a dedication plaque that we installed this last Saturday. Congrats to all those who made these events possible!
I spent most of the four hours of the event walking up and down the street with Transportation and Public Works Chair Sal Pelaez of Northridge South Neighborhood Council. We were amazed at all the new retail in the area, many opening just in the last few weeks. There is a new spirit of entrepreneurship in the air as a number of younger folks, many CSUN students and graduates, are investing in the area by creating businesses catering to young and old alike.
These new and newer business like House of Vitamins Sports Nutrition at 8902 Reseda Blvd, which had it's soft opening during the Holiday Bazaar, or Hemnangini Beauty Care at 9039 Reseda Blvd, all offer unique and special personal care options.
Complementing these newest establishments are several who are catering to a younger spirit, helping to make Northridge Village an appealing place for college aged students to visit. Stores like these include, Collective Lifestyle at 8906 Reseda Blvd, and Domestique Cycles at 8819 Reseda Blvd.
Another newer business is Arkham Printing, at 9107 Reseda Blvd. They are in the process of patenting a method of printing on Converse white canvas high or low top sneakers. The client can have any design, style or pattern that they can create. This should prove to be a big seller with style conscious young folks looking for something a little different.
So there you have it, another successful event. Look for information on our Valentine's Event in this blog and in the Northridge Chamber of Commerce Community Connection.
Thanks to CD 12, Andrea Alvarado and Linda Dunham for the shared images.
